I said the matter is love

She said alas love!

I said there is a cure

She said there is none, my eyes

I said I am going to go mad and leave this land

She said there is no land without love

I said I will weep

She said in vain

I said I am going to go mad

She said ah mere words

I said I will vent my sorrows

She said mere words

I said I will moan

She said others have tried

I said where is the compassion?

She said it has been folded away

Sitting atop the mountain, overlooking the deep blue sea beneath, a light breeze strolling along the narrow path that leads to the little chapel below, stands saydet el nourieh church, “ our lady of the light.” Fenced with lush greenery and trees, standing between the sky and within hands reach of the Mediterranean, it seems like it is suspended right above the sea.

As twilight softly kisses the horizon, a sturdy breeze plays mischievously in this derelict beauty only a short distance from the center of Tripoli, to the south of the city, bordering enormous, intense apartments blocs. Forgotten domes and empty seats are taken captive by the resilient flowers that grow amidst this deserted space. Like little shreds of hope they peek out just above the ground, holding firmly to the dream of what was once an almost picturesque reality that has drifted into abandonment.

Faraway clouds float lazily next to the fading sun. In the beautiful evening sky, there is a faint sunset displaying its myriad of colors. A beautiful day is nearly done. The rocky shore cliffs bathe in the sunset’s glow. Time goes by so fast, when yet at others times it seems to go by so slow. A lone palm tree stands on the shore. I love the beauty here more and more. The little fish are swimming under the sea. This place is bathed in beauty’s delight. Soon it will be night, the day is dying peacefully, and all that is left is but an ecstasy.

The silver of swamp lilies lip the land in wild haze as the stream takes possession of the land made wetlands. High up in the sky the clouds frolic in the sky, their dark shadows dissolve in water. This wetland is a secret, fertile, and full of life parcel, where birth and death are free and rife.

For Whom the Bell Tolls

post 234/365

Bcharre

Only the bells tear through the silence of the wide-open valleys, reminding the heavens and its people of this serene land. Breathtakingly beautiful with trees that stretch as far as the eyes can see, still up to this day, it is hard to reach, adding to its charm. Nothing disturbs its silence other then the birds and the breeze that tiptoe along humbly giving respect to the stillness of Wadi Kadisha.
