Taht el rih, literally means under the wind, is a small neighborhood in Enfeh. It’s a cluster of whitewashed houses with painted wooden balconies and windmills above the rocky coast, reminiscent of a town in the Cyclades. It has a couple of restaurants and has mostly private chalets for the people living in the area.
To reach taht el rih, you have to walk through a little cemetery on a little rocky path and then, just as you are wondering whether this path is going to lead you somewhere, whether you are lost because this surely can’t be it, the sky opens up, the salty air rushes through your face, and suddenly you are transported into a little Greek Island. Among its little narrow alleys, you’ll catch some painted sea themes on the walls here and there in between people having their lunch on terraces and the sound of the sea hitting its rocky shore.
This little area of approximately 600m is my little haven in Lebanon. It’s the sea, the strange sense of security, and just that wonderful feeling of escape from everyday life on the mainland that makes this place so special to me. Whatever the exact chemistry that place brings together it feels like you are in a little washed out town, away from the world and you are left alone with the Mediterranean sea.
Because nothing beats the feeling of standing facing the Mediterranean sea sitting in a little pearl and turquoise gem hidden away from the world forgotten by time, I #livelovelebanon and I will #fighton
What a stuff of un-ambiguity and preserveness of valuable experience on the topic of surprising emotions.
